"The most effective persuasion happens when we persuade ourselves." Seth Godin.
The purpose of any presentation is to create the conditions for someone to make up their own minds. Because it's almost impossible to make up their mind for them.
Sometimes, however, our efforts to make a more impressive presentations get in the way:
· We let facts, formating and filigree get in the way of telling a good story.
· We bury the lead too far, letting ourselves off the hook by not influencing someone else.
· Or, we do the opposite, and say what we mean so clearly and directly that the story disappears and the facts bounce off our audience.
